The Attorney General's Office, on Monday, compiled and forwarded a bill concerning water and sewerage to the President's Office.

As per a statement released by the AG Office, the bill aims to ensure clean water provision for citizens, protect and develop water resources, and guarantee that an adequate sewerage system is established in every inhabited island.

Further objectives of the bill include ensuring sufficient water and sewerage services in islands utilised for tourism and industrial purposes, regulating providers of such services, and minimising damages to water resources by establishing a system to punish purposeful harm to such resources as well as neglect in managing them.

Several new bills and amendments included in the government's legislative agenda were already passed by the parliament and are now being implemented.
