Cases against Handball Maldives President Ahmed Mujuthaba (Mujey) and former General Secretary Abdulla Anwar have been sent to the Anti Corruption Commission.

Anwar was dismissed from his position earlier this month under allegations of fund misappropriation. At the time, an official from Handball Maldives said that the allegations against him were being further investigated by the disciplinary committee.

The case was submitted to ACC by a private individual who is involved in the sport, who shared details of the case with Mihaaru News.

The allegations against Anwar are for wrongfully taking nearly MVR 500,000 in addition to salary from the association. The case against him alleges that he had taken this money through forging the signature of another senior official at the association.

Anwar did not respond when contacted for a comment by Mihaaru News.

Mujuthaba is accused of taking the allowances granted to him in advance.

Mujuthaba has previously denied these allegations.

However, the case submitted to ACC accuses him of taking the monthly allowance of MVR 4500 in advance in bulk for 11 months. He is accused for taking MVR 49,500 in this manner.
