The couple who were burnt in a fire last Monday in AA. Rasdhoo were being treated at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) under the care of a burns specialist from Mumbai.
IGMH said both patients were evaluated by Burns and Plastic Surgeon Dr Shailesh V Ranade from India's Bhatia hospital, who arrived on Thursday and returned to India on Friday after seeing the couple.
The hospital said the patients' care is being managed based on Dr. Ranade's recommendations.
Both are currently being treated in IGMH ICU on ventilators - both in critical condition with no improvement in their condition.
The couple, both age 31 reportedly had over 70 percent burns each, and the case is now being investigated by Maldives Police Service to determine how they got burnt.
While little information has been released regarding the incident, local reports say the room they were in did not burn much except for a window curtain.
