Power interruptions in islands to be resolved before Ramadan: President

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has said that a solution will be found for the issue of power interruptions in islands ahead of upcoming Ramadan.

Speaking in Gaafu Dhaalu Fiyoari in his ongoing visit to Gaafu Alif and Gaafu Dhaalu atolls, the President said that Fenaka engines in islands were in need of changes even when he had assumed office.

He said that although a large expense had been made on resolving this issue last year, a sufficient solution has not been found as of yet. He assured that with Ramadan approaching, further changes would be brought in the next two months to ensure that islands do not have to face power interruptions.

He said that the aim is to bring generators and install them in all islands facing this issue through the collaboration of Fenaka, STELCO, MTCC and other relevant companies.

He highlighted that resolving this issue is highly challenging, yet pledged to do all to resolve electricity issues by Ramadan.
