The National Art Gallery has been advised to upgrade its security following recent theft incidents, police said yesterday.
The latest incident occurred last Friday, during an exhibition of Maldivian artists, when electrical cables were cut and stolen.
In another incident, perpetrators climbed onto the gallery's roof and stole the outdoor units of six air conditioners.
A police media official told Mihaaru News that similar thefts had been reported last month and in August.

The investigation is ongoing, but no arrests have been made yet, police said.
The Maldivian artist community has expressed concern over the repeated thefts at the gallery, which is located in a high security green zone monitored by both the police and the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).
Due to the theft of electrical cables, the gallery has been without power, forcing the closure of some exhibitions due to power outages.
