Fazul, his brother and MWSC Deputy Managing Director Ibrahim Fazeel Rasheed, and 20 others, including officials from HDC and the Housing Ministry had their passports seized in December last year.
Authorities have released the passports of former HDC Managing Director Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed and others linked to the allocation of land to ineligible individuals under the Binveriyaa scheme.
Fazul, his brother and MWSC Deputy Managing Director Ibrahim Fazeel Rasheed, and 20 others, including officials from HDC and the Housing Ministry had their passports seized in December last year.
Police have now lifted the travel ban on all individuals connected to the case.
The issue surfaced when Fazeel, who was not listed as a land recipient and was ineligible for the scheme, applied for permission from HDC to construct a boundary wall around a Binveriyaa allocated plot. He is now under investigation for forgery.
Fazeel submitted the application on June 30, 2024, prompting the land registry to be sent to the Housing Ministry for verification. Another applicant, Abdul Majeed Mahir, also sought permission for the same plot, although he was registered in Haa Alifu Dhidhdhoo rather than Male', which is a requirement of the Binveriyaa scheme.
Documents related to the case surfaced on social media in December 2024, leading to an investigation. Fazul and the HDC board were suspended, and Fazul later resigned.
