The individual involved in running over Saturday's accident victim had remained at the scene until authorities arrived, police said today.
Maldives Police Service said today that the woman involved in the SinaMale' Bridge highway accident, where a fallen accident victim was run over, remained at the scene until authorities arrived.
At around 8:19am on Saturday, an accident occurred on the Sinamale' Bridge Highway where a motorcycle crashed into a traffic cone placed on the highway to indicate ongoing work on the solar panels fixed at the side of the road.
The victim of the accident, a Bangladeshi man, passed away on the same day while receiving treatment at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital.
At the time, Police said that the man had died through injuries sustained in the accident.
However, a video circulating on social media revealed that after the man fell from his motorcycle, he attempted to get up but was run over, on his head by a speeding motorcycle, leading to him collapsing back on the road.
Police said that the motorcycle was driven by a 60-year-old woman.
Her license has been confiscated, and the motorcycle was towed from the scene.
Police are investigating the incident further.
