The suspects were apprehended at Hanimaadhoo Airport in a joint operation conducted by the Kulhudhuffushi police, Hanimaadhoo police, and intelligence officers.
Four individuals have been arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle drugs into Haa Dhaalu atoll Hanimaadhoo.
According to police, the arrests were made following a tip-off to the Counter Narcotics Intelligence about an attempt to smuggle drugs via air travel.
The suspects were apprehended at Hanimaadhoo Airport in a joint operation conducted by the Kulhudhuffushi police, Hanimaadhoo police, and intelligence officers.
A total of 13.85 grams of suspected drugs were seized from the suspects.
Those arrested include:
- Fathimath Shaha Hassan, 20, Noonu Velidhoo
- Hussain Shaawin, 22, Kaafu Guraidhoo
- Mohamed Rilwan Abdul Sattar, 22, Feydhoo, Addu City
- Arsam Ali Waheed, 28, Dhaalu Kudahuvadhoo
The Hanimaadhoo Magistrate's Court has ordered their remand for 30 days.
Recently, a mother and daughter duo; Aminath, 56 and Fathimath Maya, 25, were arrested on February 13 in connection with drug use and trafficking in Hanimaadhoo.
The two were taken into custody from their residence, Maya Palace, with Aminath remanded for five days and Maya for 15 days.
