Tazkiya claims second medal in Sri Lankan Championships

Maldives' Amna Tazkiya Mirshad has secured the silver medal at the Swimming Junior Championships ongoing in Sri Lanka.

With the silver medal, the most accomplished local athlete competing in this competition, which observed participation from several junior Maldivian swimmers is Tazkiya.

After clocking a time of 29.67 seconds during the 50 meter long-course event held today, Tazkiya had secured second place in the race. With this triumph, she has contributed to Maldives earning three medals in the competition.

This includes an individual silver medal and a silver medal won by the national team during a relay event. The individual silver medal was secured during a 100m freestyle event where the race was finished in 1 minute and 5.03 seconds.

The Maldivian National Team had clocked a time of 5 minutes and 38.03 seconds to triumph the medal at the 4x100m medley relay event.

In addition to Tazkiya, those who contributed in securing this medal includes Zoha Azlee Naseem, Malaika Linda Imran and Zaha Zaidhul Khaleel.

Tazkiya had renewed the national record twice during this championship, shattering the national record in 200m butterfly stroke event yesterday. She had also broken the 100m freestyle record twice during yesterday's events.
