Inan: New junior champion of Muleekolhu Raalhugandu event

Mohamed Inan Abdul Hannan has secured the Junior Championship title in the U18 tournament of the the Dhivehi Surf League's 'Muleekolhu Raalhugandu' event held in Meemu atoll Muli.

The young surfer, Mohamed Inan Abdul Hannan has secured the Junior Championship title in the U18 tournament of the the Dhivehi Surf League's 'Muleekolhu Raalhugandu' event held in Meemu atoll Muli.

Inan secured the Championship yesterday after accumulating a total of 10.50 points against Yasin Ahmed Nashid in the final heat yesterday, scoring 5.50 points in the last wave. Yasin had scored a total of 7.67 points, accumulating 3.50 points in the second wave and 4.17 points in the third wave.

This is Inan's first triumph in a league tournament. Although he had competed in the finals during the most recent two league events, he was defeated by Kayan Abdulla Areef (Kaiputty) during the Rannamaari Challenge held last year and Kalhegalekodaa event held this year.

Inan currently sits at the top of the junior category ranking in the Dhivehi Surf League with 1,860 points.

He advanced to the finals after clinching victory over Shanif Shafeeq, who was crowned champion in both the preceding Muli events. Shanif had secured 7.50 points in the semifinals heat while Inan had collected 11.83 points.

Kayan, who had claimed championship in the most recent league event and the junior category of the 'Gaamaadhookolhu' tournament had met Yasin in the finals and faced defeat with a score of 8.66 points against 14.50 points.

Yoosuf Kayan Hamdhan Zaki (Kai Zaki), the junior surfer who had competed in the opens category of the tournament had crashed out after competing against Shanif and Yasin in the quarterfinals heat. Kayan and Inan had advanced to the semifinals after clinching victory against Sayyid Salaahudheen in the quarterfinals.

Inan had qualified for the quarterfinals in the opens category as well. He had crashed out after competing against the champion of the category, Ismail Rasheed (Smiley), after earning 7.90 points against Rasheed's 11.10 points.

The next event of this Surfing League, Randhaa Raalhugandu is set to take place at Kaafu atoll Thulusdhoo from August 27 through 30 while the concluding event, 'Rannamaari Challenge' will be held in the Male' City Raalhugandu area from October 27 through November 2.
