The Supreme Court and the High Court of Maldives have gone into recess for a period of one month.
According to High Courts' guidelines, High Court will remain in recess from the last official working day of November till the first official working day in January.
During the recess period, normal trials and court proceedings will not take place. However, exceptions will be made for rulings and proceedings that are deemed imperative although the administrative functions of courts will remain as is.
While the High Court went on recess from November 29, Supreme Court will go into recess the following week on Sunday. Supreme Court's recess will conclude on January 2, 2019.
Furthermore, Civil Court also remains in recess, with the court ending its recess period on December 20.
Every year, all courts go into recess once, during a specific period.
