The Maldives National Association of Construction Industry (MACI) has awarded President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu their most prestigious title of "Bodu Rasgefaanu" in recognition of his services to the construction industry.
President Muizzu was presented with the title at the MACI Builders Awards 2023 ceremony held at JEN Maldives Malé by Shangri-La on Sunday evening, December 24.
At the ceremony, MACI emphasized that President Muizzu has made sustainable advances in the construction and building sectors throughout his previous tenure as the Minister of Housing and Malé City Mayor.
The association further highlighted President Muizzu's role in overseeing the construction of some of the tallest structures in the Maldives, including the Dharumavantha Hospital and Hiyaa housing towers.
Moreover, MACI credited President Muizzu for supervising the first bridge project in the Maldives' history; the Sinamalé Bridge.
At Sunday evening's ceremony, a total of six construction industry entities received accolades at the debut edition of the MACI Builders Awards.
Alia Construction and Amin Construction were conferred with the Best Contractor of the Year award, while Villa Hakatha won the Cement Supplier of the Year title. Additionally, Bison Maldives won the Project Delivery of the Year award.
Additionally, two prominent construction industry professionals were conferred with the Lifetime Achievement Award in Construction.
The awards were conferred to Abdulla Mohamed, the Chairman of Amin Group of Companies, and Mohamed Ali Janah, the Chairman of Hotels and Resorts Investment Maldives and MACI's current President.
