The State has appealed against the bail of Haleemath Lamha who is accused in the murder case of Filipino nurse Mary Grace at High Court.
Mary's husband, Marvin S. Y. Vargas, and Haleemath Lamha, who were both nurses at the same hospital are charged with the murder of Mary in October 2021. While Marvin faces charges of murder with intent, Lamha is accused of being an accomplice.
Lamha was granted conditional bail while the state had opposed to her release. While the state has appealed the decision in High Court, the court is yet to decide on whether to accept the case.
Lamha was granted conditional bail by the Criminal Court late last year after being held in custody for an extended period.
The state appealed the decision to the High Court, which ruled that Lamha's release was incorrect and ordered her to be remanded in custody.
This time as well, Lamha was granted bail on the condition that she do not leave Male', not to leave her home after a certain time and to appear before the court when informed.
While Lamha has been granted bail, Marvin remains in state custody.
