OBLU SELECT Sangeli won the North Kaafu Cup Zone title in the Dhiraagu Tekkers Resort Futsal Cup, defeating Meeru Maldives 6-5 in a penalty shootout.
Sangeli’s captain, Mohamed Shaufan, was named Man of the Match.
Abdulla Zameen of Sangeli was given the Best Player award, while Abdul Majeedh was named Best Coach. The Fair Play Team award went to Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru, and Mohamed Muslih from Sheraton Maldives Full Moon finished as the top scorer with 12 goals.
The zone’s top five players were Arsham Moosa Naeem and Shaufan from Sangeli, Ali Reehan and Ibrahim Shinaz from Meeru Maldives, and Muslih from Sheraton.
With their win, OBLU SELECT Sangeli has advanced to the semi finals, where they will face Joali Maldives, the Raa Zone champions. Joali secured their semi final spot by defeating Lhaviyani Zone champions Le Meridien and Meemu Zone champions Soneva Jani.
In the second semi final on the same day, South Kaafu champions Hard Rock will go up against Dhaalu Zone champions Baglioni Resort Maldives, who won their zone championship earlier in August.
The Tekkers Cup final is scheduled for Thursday.
