Police said today that the arrest was made during a drug operation conducted in Male' after a tip off from Counter Narcotics Intelligence.
A man in possession of one kilogram of narcotics and a large sum of cash has been arrested following a search of two residences in Male'.
Police said today that the arrest was made during a drug operation conducted in Male' after a tip off from Counter Narcotics Intelligence.
The suspect, identified as 32 year old Hassan Nazeeh from Galolhu Jootheege, was reportedly using, in possession of, and dealing drugs.
The operation was carried out on Thursday as a joint effort between Counter Narcotics Intelligence and the Drug Enforcement Department.
Police said that during the search of the two residences believed to be linked to Nazeeh, a significant amount of money and suspected drugs were found, with the seized narcotics estimated to weigh more than one kilogram.
However, authorities have not disclosed the exact amount of cash confiscated.
Nazeeh was brought before the court and has been remanded in custody for 10 days.
Police are currently investigating the case.
