A registry of Maldivian students studying abroad has been established, Ministry of Higher Education said.

This marks the first time such a registry has been compiled. Till now, 2,116 students have been registered, including 915 male students and 1,201 female students.

According to the ministry, the registry aims to streamline the management of key matters related to students pursuing higher education overseas.

It is also intended to enable the government to provide necessary assistance and support more efficiently.

President’s Special Scholarship, awarded to students who achieve A grades in five A-level subjects, and the High Achievement Scholarship, granted by the government, allow recipients to study in any country and in any field of their choice.

This year, 19 students received the President’s Special Scholarship, while 119 were awarded the High Achievement Scholarship.

Additionally, 1,384 students applied for student loans this year, with 582 already beginning their studies. The scholarship scheme has been awarded to 345 students so far, of whom 137 have begun their education.
