Maldives National Party (MNP) leader Mohamed Nazim has stated that no one can accuse him of corruption.
During a campaign activity held by the Maldives National Party (MNP), Nazim, who is also the party's presidential candidate, emphasized his commitment to the cause as he has nothing to hide and no misconduct to be held accountable for. He assured his supporters that no one can falsely accuse him of any wrongdoing or corruption.
Nazim made this claim in response to a query regarding the distribution of housing flats developed for Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) officials.
"Don't make accusations; instead, investigate such claims. We assure our full cooperation. If there are any allegations of corruption, take the case to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) or the police. But I assure you, none of that can be attached to me. It is impossible to pin any corrupt conduct on me," former Minister of Defense Nazim said.
“There is no one who can claim I had wronged them, or duped them, and I do not owe anything [money] to anyone.”
He further said that he does not enjoy lavish lifestyles and does not possess significant properties or lands. Nazim said that his vision was to ensure a bright future for the Maldivian people.
"My aim is to bring joy and harmony to the Maldivian people, to make them stable. We all need to join hands together to create a better community," Nazim said.
Nazim expressed his concern over the public's worries, which he attributed to the government's failure to meet their needs. He added that during his campaign visits to various islands, he observed a disheartened public whom he believes have been neglected by the government.
Nazim criticized the current administration's "no-discrimination" policy for residential islands, stating that it was not being implemented effectively. He cited an example of a local island he visited where the powerhouse was in a poor and rundown condition, with only tins serving as a barrier around the power generator.
He assured such circumstances will be greatly improved in every local island if the public voted for him as the president.
"There will be no more discontentment if you elect me; instead, everyone will witness a joyful and stable future," Nazim said.
