Inter-ministerial delegation concludes visit to India, Sri Lanka

The inter-ministerial delegation, on Monday, successfully concluded briefing sessions in Sri Lanka and India regarding the state's developmental priorities and ongoing arrangements for the Maldives Partnership Forum 2019, which is slated for June 17-18.

The briefing sessions were hosted in Colombo and New Delhi from May 10-13. Attendees consisted of ambassadors, representatives of multilateral agencies and other diplomatic officials designated to Maldives.

Details of upcoming projects concerning the state's 100-day agenda as well as projects relating to the blue economy, healthcare, education, housing, governance and judicial reform were shared with attendees during the sessions.

Additionally, the delegation responded to queries concerning the development agenda of the government and administrative arrangements of the forum.

The Partnership Forum is to be hosted under the theme, 'Investing in a Resilient and Sustainable Maldives', and will mark the first occasion since 2009 that the country has invited close bilateral and multilateral partners to deliberate on the direction of government and its main priorities.

Ambassador-at-large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr Asim Ahmed chaired the briefing, which was held in collaboration with key government agencies involved in external resource mobilisation. This consists of the President’s Office, Ministry of Finance, Ministry Planning and Infrastructure, Ministry of Economic Development, and Attorney General’s Office.

The Ambassador-at-large was accompanied by Undersecretary at the President’s Office Nuha Riza, Deputy Minister of National Planning and Infrastructure Riyaz Mansoor, Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mariyam Midhfa Naeem, Financial Management Consultant at the Ministry of Finance Abdulla Nafiz, Consultant for Trade and Investment Eezan Shahul Hameed, State Attorney at the Attorney General’s Office Maziya Abdul Sattar, and Assistant Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Salman Zaki.
