The draw for the "Ninety Plus Gold Cup," which will be held at Citron Lemongrass at Alimas Carnival, is set to begin at 21:00 hrs tonight.
Sri Lanka national football team captain and goalkeeper Sujan Perera and a Belgian midfielder have been included in the squad for the Ninety Plus Gold Cup.
"Ninety Plus Gold Cup," is a national football tournament open to teams from islands and cities across the Maldives.
Ninety Plus said that two officials from each of the 22 teams competing in the tournament will participate in the draw.
The tournament will feature some of the most football-enthusiastic islands. Each team is allowed to include two non resident players, and some teams have also brought in foreign players.
Sujan will be the goalkeeper for the Lhaviyani atoll Kurendhoo team during the tournament, which is set to begin on November 20. He has previously played for Club Eagles and TC in the Maldivian league. Sujan moved to Club Eagles in 2015 and played for the team for five years.
Belgian midfielder Jordy Vleugels, who is also listed in the Kurendhoo squad, has previously played for lower division clubs in Iceland, Cyprus, Australia, and Kazakhstan. He also played for a Thai regional league club this year.
Kurendhoo team is coached by Ahsan Rasheed. The most experienced player on the team is Abdul Waheed Ibrahim (Waad), who has been playing in the first division for many years.
