In the investigation into a case where a group of assailants forced their way into a residence in Thaa atoll Thimarafushi and committed assault, Police have arrested five individuals.
Police said that the five persons were arrested under a court. Those arrested have been identified as Ahmed Ameen, 36, Jahaamugurige, Ahmed Shahudhy, 38, Salwa, Aas Ibrahim, 32, Hiri, Abdulla Ashraf, 39, Gulbakaa Villa from Fuvahumulah and Mohamed Rauf, 54, Vavath, ViliMale'.
While Police have confirmed they are continuing investigations into the case, no further details have been revealed as of yet.
It is so far not known whether any persons were injured in the altercation, nor is the reason behind the assault known.
Police said yesterday that they had received reports of the incident at around 13:30 hrs.
Social media accounts, meanwhile, claim that the assailants attacked an individual with a sharp object.
