Prominent business mogul Mohamed Janah Ali has stated that he is unaware of any plans for his appointment to the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) Normalization Committee.

FIFA has decided to transfer the management of the association to a normalization committee to oversee the re-elections of FAM's management.

Rumors have circulated that FIFA has chosen Janah for this committee.

Janah had a meeting with FIFA President Gianni Infantino in Qatar in mid-June, which fueled the speculation. Some media outlets have even reported that FIFA is planning to appoint Janah as the Chairperson of the normalization committee.

When Mihaaru News asked about the rumors, Janah, an experienced businessman in the construction industry, denied any knowledge of such plans. "I haven't heard of (anything like that)," Janah said.

Janah also serves as the Principal Advisor to the President on Trade and Investment.

FIFA and the AFC's review committee have been reviewing the CVs of several Maldivians for potential appointments to the normalization committee. When asked if his CV had been considered, Janah reiterated his lack of awareness.

In June, Janah shared a photo of his meeting with Infantino on social media, praising Infantino's leadership and expressing gratitude for the advice and opportunities discussed.

Despite his business connections and frequent attendance to view matches with his business partners at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Janah is not directly involved in sports, particularly football.

FAM Normalization Committee will be responsible for amending the federation's constitution and organizing new elections.

Additionally, an audit will be conducted to inspect financial transactions and the use of funds received by FAM. The last FAM president, Bassam Adeel Jaleel, is currently suspended over allegations of money laundering and mismanagement.
