A Ministry spokesperson said that the six-month period was deemed more appropriate, as one year was considered too long for a temporary license.
The Ministry of Health has announced a reduction in the temporary license period for doctors required to complete the Medical Council's licensing examination.
Starting September 1, 2024, the provisional registration period will be shortened to six months, a change that was gazetted last week.
Previously, the provisional license was issued for one year, but it has now been reduced to six months.
However, any provisional licenses issued from September 1 to the previous Saturday have been extended for an additional six months.
A Ministry spokesperson said that the six-month period was deemed more appropriate, as one year was considered too long for a temporary license.
The duration of the permanent license, which is awarded after passing the licensing exam, remains unchanged at five years.
