Police have issued a warning, stating that legal action will be taken against those celebrating Christmas in any residential island.
In a press release, the Police urged people not to hold any Christmas activities in residential areas, emphasizing that such activities are prohibited by the country's laws and regulations.
"No activities will be held in residential islands to celebrate Christmas, and action will be taken against those who conduct such activities," the statement said.
Instances of Christmas celebrations at guesthouses in various islands have occurred in the past, prompting the police to intervene and stop such activities.
As Christmas approaches, a significant number of guests typically visit guesthouses in different atolls. While Christmas is celebrated vibrantly in resorts nationwide, the police's warning indicates a strict stance against celebrations in residential islands.
