Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has rejected allegations that they had sold some residential plots from Hulhumale' outside of the bidding process.
In a press statement issued last night, HDC said that these are false allegations designed to dissolve trust in the corporation.
They assured that residential plots have been sold through an open bidding process after public announcements.
They said that the first stage is to submit Expression of Interest for the desired land, and then bidding being made open to those who submit this. The company said that the bids were won by the highest bidder at the time that bidding was closed.
The press statement included details of three residential plots sold in this way. They included the bid amounts, dates of EOI submittal, bids submitted by various parties, size of the land, and the winning bid.
HDC issued this statement following rumours being spread on social media that ruling People's National Congress (PNC) MPs and some senior government officials has purchased land at reduced prices.
