Male' City Council has announced the procurement of equipment and materials for "Olhu Hiyaa" facility, a government initiative established to care for stray cats in Male' City.

The council has invited bids for the supply of equipment for the cat facility, located in Hulhumale' Phase 2. Interested parties must submit their bids by 10:00 hrs on December 4. Further details can be requested via email until 12:00 hrs on December 2.

The required supplies include injections, urinary catheters, masks, and surgical equipment. According to the announcement, applications are open to Maldivian owned companies, partnerships, or private businesses registered in Maldives.

Covering an area of approximately 5,000 square feet, the Olhu Hiyaa facility was inaugurated on November 10, though cats have not yet been moved in.

Two weeks ago, the council has also sought suppliers for cat food and issued announcements for veterinary professionals and nurses to staff the facility.

The cat facility was established to offer shelter and care for cats, protecting them from injuries and various diseases and provide a safe and clean environment for the cats in Male' City.

The facility is equipped with a quarantine area, a clinic, and a laboratory. There is also a pharmacy stocked with medication for cats, as well as an area where the cats can exercise and play.
