The number of reported cases of the common cold in Maldives rose last month, according to Health Protection Agency (HPA).
HPA statistics show 70,019 cases were reported in October and November, with 29,515 in October and 40,504 in November. This marks an increase compared to the same period last year.
HPA also noted a rise in the number of people tested for influenza symptoms in November compared to October. So far this year, 2,375 tests have been conducted, with 476 samples testing positive.
The number of dengue cases reported in November was also higher than in October, with 140 cases compared to 126. However, this figure is lower than the number recorded during the same period last year.
Additionally, diarrheal illnesses are on the rise, with 3,164 cases reported in October and 3,635 in November, according to HPA.
The agency has urged the public to take precautionary measures to prevent the spread of common illnesses.
