Hdh. Navaidhoo and K. Kaashidhoo beat L. Gan and Gdh. Vaadhoo - two teams which played in the Goldedn Futsal Challenge finals two years - and have advanced to a historic final.
This is the first time that both Navaidhoo and Kaashidhoo have competed in the final of the tournament. Navaidhoo won this year’s Hdh atoll and Zone 1 championships. Although they were unable to win the trophy after competing in the Kaafu atoll and Zone 3 finals, Kaashidhoo shocked strong teams by securing a chance to win the championship.
In the match played on Hulhumalé's Rehendhi turf field, Navaidhoo won against Gan in the semi finals with a score of 3-1.
A free kick by Mohamed Shaain gave Navaidhoo a lead, which was quickly levelled off by a goal by Gan's Ahmed Haleem. In the 35th minute of the match however, Navaidhoo's Ahmed Haleem scored a second goal with the third goal for Navaidhoo entering the goal post just a minute before the match ended.
Kaashidhoo won the semi final match against Vaadhoo with 4-2 goals.
Nashaah Ahmed scored a goal in the third minute for Vaadhoo while the score was equalised with a goal from Ahmed Ayaz in the 13th minute.
The last five minutes of the match were intense with multiple goals scored. Ajlan Abdul Hannan gave Kaashidhoou the lead in the 34th minute but Nashaah equalised within a minute. However, Ismail Rayaan scored in the 37th and 38th minutes to secure the final.
Vaadhoo played without their most important defender Ibrahim Shauf Mohamed after he was suspended for the match following three cards.
Navaidhoo won the atoll final trophy after defeating Hdh. Neykurendhoo. The team beat HA. dhidhhoo to win the zone finals. The also faced off against Machhangolhi in the top 16, and ended the match with a large score difference. Navaidhoo also scored several goals against Mahibadhoo.
Kaashidhoo lost the Kaafu atoll final to Maafushi with only a goals difference. B. Eydhafushi also won against the team in the zone finals. However, Kaashidhoo turned from underdogs to top dogs after striking out Th. Thimarafushi with penalties. Even in the quarter finals, Kaashidhoo came up from behind and secured a win.
Golden Football Challenge 2025's final will be played between Navaidhoo and Kaashidhoo on Tuesday at 8:00 pm.
