National airline Maldivian has commenced flights to Cochin and Trivandrum in India on their first wide body aircraft, the A330.
The first Maldivian A330 flight to Cochin International Airport landed yesterday afternoon.
Cochin and Trivandrum are two destinations where many Maldivians visit for medical treatment.
Previously, Maldivian's flights to the destinations were conducted on their ATR 72 and Airbus A320.
Maldivian Managing Director Ibrahim Iyas said that the A330 flights to these destinations had been introduced due to major demand.
He said that even in future, the larger craft will be used for flights carrying a higher number of passengers to these destinations.
