Parliament's Foreign Relations Committee has today voted in favour of appointing former President of the Elections Commission Fuad Thaufeeq to the post of Maldives Ambassador to Thailand.
Parliament's Foreign Relations Committee has today voted in favour of appointing former President of the Elections Commission Fuad Thaufeeq to the post of Maldives Ambassador to Thailand.
Fuad's name was nominated for the post and forwarded to parliament on November 25, after his term at the Elections Commission ended two days before.
The Committee members' votes for Fuad's appointment were unanimously in favour.
Fuad left the Elections Commission after having served two terms there. He was appointed for his second term in November, 2019. As per the EC regulations, a member cannot serve more than two terms at the commission.
Fuad has extensive experience in organizing elections, having worked in the area since 1978.
