World famous American franchise restaurant, Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), officially opened its first outlet in Maldives on Sunday night.
KFC opened its doors at the Male Square complex in capital Male City, which also houses Pizza Hut Maldives.
The restaurant was inaugrated by senior officials from Gamma Island Food Pvt Ltd, the company responsible for bringing the long-awaited brands of KFC and Pizza Hut to the island nation.
The KFC outlet in Male can accommodate total 120 customers.
According to an official of the company, KFC Maldives will be open for service from 11:00 a.m. Monday onwards.
The first 100 customers will receive free tee shirts featuring the KFC logo.
Gamma Island Food is a joint venture of Island Food Pvt Ltd of Maldives, and Gamma Pizzakraft Overseas Pvt Ltd of India, which owns a large restaurant chain with groups operating over 300 KFC and Pizza Hut outlets in India and Sri Lanka.
The company unveiled Pizza Hut Maldives on March 29 this year.
