EyeCare Hospital has introduced an AI-powered retina screening service in collaboration with Iris.
The service was introduced during the ongoing Maldives Health and Family Expo at Hulhumale' Central Park.
The service was officially inaugurated by the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Health Ahmed Hamdhoon Naseer and EyeCare Managing Director Dr. Abdulla Zahir. With this service, AI will be introduced to EyeCare's screening services, eye disease will be diagnosed ahead of time, and will make it easier for additional analysis and expedited diagnoses for those who need treatment.
During screening, a special camera is used to take pictures of the back of the eye with Iris's "Selina+" AI system analyzing the pictures afterward. It will help in diagnosing eye conditions that occur due to diabetes, glaucoma and eye issues in the elderly. The report prepared by the system will aid in expediting these types of diagnoses and ascertain whether those who need treatment require it as soon as possible.
Due to this service that has AI technology and recommendations from experienced doctors, EyeCare said that fast and valid decisions can be made for eye treatments. EyeCare stated that the hospital's purpose is to make eye screening services as easy as possible and raise awareness in protecting eyesight among as many people as possible.
This service will begin being offered at the EyeCare Hospital at Orchid Magu, Male'.
This service will also be available at EyeCare Hospital's stall at the Maldives Health and Family Expo that will continue until tomorrow. The expo will take place from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm and then from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm.
