Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race (DMRR) 2026 has been officially recognized as a World Athletics Ranking Competition, allowing eligible performances to contribute towards athletes’ world rankings.

The recognition marks a milestone for the event and athletics in the Maldives, giving runners the opportunity to achieve internationally recognized results at home.

Registration for this year’s race has closed, with more than 5,500 participants signing up. This is the highest number in the event’s history. Dhiraagu initially capped registration at 4,000 but expanded the limit following strong demand.

The race will take place on November 20 at Hulhumale' Central Park, featuring a half-marathon, 10km and 5km open races, as well as newly introduced team categories.

The event brings together experienced athletes and first-time runners, promoting active lifestyles and encouraging participants to challenge themselves.

This year’s race will again support child protection, a key focus of Dhiraagu’s corporate social responsibility programme. The event will provide a platform for NGOs to advocate for children’s rights and raise funds for their work.
