The Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race (DMRR) 2026 has closed registration with more than 5,500 participants registered, marking the highest turnout in the event's history and reinforcing its status as the largest run in the Maldives.

The initial cap of 4,000 runners was expanded due to overwhelming demand, Dhiraagu said.

This year's DMRR is also a milestone for the country's running community, with it being officially recognized as a World Athletics Ranking Competition, the company noted.

The race will take place on a World Athletics certified course measured in collaboration with the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), allowing eligible performances to contribute to athletes' global rankings.

DMRR 2026 is scheduled to be held on November 20 at the Hulhumale' Central Park, and will feature the Half Marathon, 10K and 5K Open categories, along with newly introduced team divisions.

Dhiraagu stated that the race continues to attract both seasoned athletes and first-time runners, encouraging healthier lifestyles and community participation.

As in previous years, DMRR 2026 is dedicated to raising awareness and support for child protection, a key focus of Dhiraagu's corporate social responsibility efforts. The event will provide a platform for NGOs to advocate for children's rights and mobilize fundraising.

DMRR remains the Maldives' first international run and is listed on the AIMS World Running Calendar, drawing participants from across the country and abroad.
