Velana International Airport (VIA) has been shortlisted for two titles at the World Travel Awards 2026: World's Leading Airport and World's Leading Airport - Customer Experience.
Public voting for both categories is open until October 30.
The nominations came shortly after VIA was named Indian Ocean's Leading Airport 2026 at the World Travel Awards held in Maldives in September this year. VIA now competes alongside major international hubs including Singapore Changi, Dubai International, Hong Kong International, Istanbul Airport and JFK.
VIA is one of 21 nominees for World's Leading Airport and one of 12 nominees for the customer experience category, which recognizes Maldives Airports Company Limited's (MACL) ongoing efforts to enhance passenger services as the airport expands and modernizes.
MACL has encouraged Maldivians, travellers, industry partners and supporters worldwide to vote through these links for World's Leading Airport 2026 and World's Leading Airport - Customer Experience 2026.
Winners will be announced at the Grand Final scheduled to be held later this year.
As the Maldives' main international gateway, VIA serves as the first and last touchpoint for millions of travellers visiting the country.
