Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) has said that this year's edition of the "Guesthouse Symposium", and event that started on MIB's initiative and is held with aid from the National Hotels and Guesthouse Association of Maldives (NHGAM), will be different from previous years.

The bank said that the 2026 Guesthouse Symposium will be an event that is different from the symposiums and conferences usually held in Maldives. The 2026 Guesthouse Symposium will have one panel discussion for an important topic. While an expert keynote speech will take place, the symposium will be held alongside the Guesthouse Awards.

Previous MIB Guesthouse Symposium events have three panel discussions, with this year only having one panel discussion so that detailed perspectives can be offered toward the most important topic or topics, and so that more people have the chance to offer their opinions, said MIB.

The Guesthouse Symposium is an yearly event that allows discussion and exchange of ideas regarding the obstacles faced by the guesthouse industry and how they can overcome them, held by MIB with the relevant industry parties.

The MIB Guesthouse Symposium and award ceremony will be held on 15th October at Barceló Nasandhura.
