Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race, the biggest marathon in Maldives, is a major marathon held with the slogan protecting children's rights. It is an important fundraising effort that advocates for children's rights, and is meant to offer cooperation to associations that work for children's rights.

More than MVR 600,000 in aid was given to 12 associations via Dhiraagu Road Race last year. With this financial aid, the association was able to help the associations conduct vital children's protection and wellness programs, along with offering financial assistance to parents in need and for various essential needs for kids.

Dhiraagu held a major activity this month for the associations under the name "DMRR NGO Impact Platform". The activity shared the accomplishments and experiences of association efforts with other associations.

Looking at the work done by associations with aid from Dhiraagu Road Race, the "Save a Diabetic Child" program from the Diabetic Society Maldives received additional cooperation from the aid they received last year.

This is a crucial program that has been providing medical assistance to children who have Type 1 Diabetes. From December 2025 to June 2026, the association was able to cover expenses for pediatrician and dietician appointments via the Save a Diabetic Child program.

DMRR provided financial aid to Tiny Hearts of Maldives for the treatment of 16 infants who have heart conditions. This includes surgery to testing for disease identification and financial aid for families with financial constraints who want to consult cardiovascular specialists.

With the aid provided to Moms Aid, the tuition fee and Quran class expenses for six students in six islands that need financial assistance was provided. DMRR also aided the Care Society by providing essential academic resources for 114 students who are studying at the NGO.

Due to the financial aid provided by Dhiraagu Road Race last year, various sectors received cooperation in conducting useful and important awareness programs for children.

The Women Empowerment Association of Thinadhoo (WEAT) conducted a cybercrime awareness program, a special awareness program for ways to protect oneself, an inclusion program and career guidance programs for children. More than 900 children were given critical information from the programs regarding their safety and wellness.

With the help from Dhiraagu Road Race, the Society for Health Education (SHE) was able to hold important programs as well.

The NGO conducted child safety and hygiene sessions for more than 200 children. The sessions shared information on personal boundaries, actions that may cost them their safety and how they can report such an action if they see it from someone they trust.

Along with SHE, the Blind and Visually Impaired Society of Maldives (BVISM) also held special programs to make children more aware. This includes sessions in six schools across Maldives for 200 students, with support for children with visual impairments, increasing their participation in schools, and raising awareness for children so that children with visual impairments can be protected.

The Cancer Society of Maldives was able to conduct cancer awareness programs due to aid from Dhiraagu Road Race last year. Programs such as cancer identification in Haa Dhaalu Atoll and Addu, and steps that can be taken to be in good health for protecting oneself against cancer were conducted. This was a session that is a part of the NGO's ongoing awareness program for the entirety of Maldives.

The program was able to raise cancer awareness for more than 4,800 students across 10 atolls in Maldives.

The Child Abuse Prevention Society (CAPS) was able to conduct special programs due to aid from Dhiraagu Road Race as well. A total of 225 participants from R. Fainu and K. Dhiffushi were given information about the lives of adolescent children, the changes they would undergo and the changes to general relationships. This includes 188 parents and 37 teachers.

The sessions also identified the concerns held by various individuals by meeting with them one by one and provided the support they needed.

Advocating the Rights of Children (ARC) prepared the necessary resources in sharing important information regarding children's rights and their wellness from the financial aid they received from Dhiraagu Road Race. This includes a mental health book for parents and guardians and a book for children that spells out their rights.

The financial aid from Dhiraagu Road Race last year toward the Maldivian Thalassaemia Society (MTS) gave them the ability to further strengthen their "ThalConnect" program. The program calls those who have thalassaemia and shares their experiences and is meant to increase their participation.

The Maldives Autism Association held therapy sessions as part of their awareness efforts in safeguarding children. Life skill activities, psychosocial support for parents, and inspection of therapy environments and resources were conducted. A free development screening program was also held.

Psychologists, speech therapists and occupational therapists helped screen 25 children under that program.

While aid from Dhiraagu Road Race has allowed associations to conduct these vital efforts, aid from this year's race has seen the associations make plans for further crucial work.

The MVR 100 from each registration to the 2026 Dhiraagu Road Race and funds from special bib purchases will be donated to associations.

Five associations that have endorsed Dhiraagu Road Race that receive nominations from participants will see Dhiraagu donate MVR 200,000 in financial aid.

DMRR has announced submissions are open to participate in the Dhiraagu Road Race.
