Bank of Maldives (BML) has been named the Platinum Title Sponsor for the World Travel Awards (WTA) 2026 Asia, Oceania & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony.

BML CEO Mohamed Shareef and Visit Maldives Corporation Managing Director Abdulla Yasir signed the agreement.

Visit Maldives stated that the WTA is making a comeback to Maldives after 10 years, and that the ceremony has become an important event where world leaders in the tourism industry meet in one place.

More than 40 world-famous hotels and resort leaders, tourism boards, government institutions, international travel trade media and airlines will be taking part in the ceremony.

WTA is an award ceremony celebrating and recognizing high achievements in the international tourism industry, with globally popular destinations, tourism associations and hospitality brands participating as well.

Visit Maldives said the Asia, Oceania & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony 2026 being held in Maldives gives the country an opportunity to maintain its position as the leading destination in the world, advertise the nation to important industry figures at the international level and strengthen professional networks.
