During the first 15 days of this month, tourist arrivals to the Maldives decreased by 2.9 percent.
Statistics from the Tourism Ministry show that 69,000 tourists visited the Maldives so far this month. However, during the same period last year, 71,700 tourists visited the Maldives.
In connection with the war in the Middle East, tourists coming to the Maldives began to decline starting from last March.
While 1.5 million tourists have arrived in the Maldives so far this year, this is a 3.7 percent lower figure compared to last year.
Among the tourists who visited the Maldives so far this year, the highest number of tourists came from China, totaling 280,000 tourists.
The second highest number of tourists came from Russia, with 219,000 tourists from that country. In third place, the United Kingdom saw 115,000 tourists visit the Maldives.
Although the highest number of individual tourists coming to the Maldives came from China, the region from which the most tourists come is Europe.
