The orientation week for Villa College's September 2026 intake where new students are welcomed and are made aware of the preparations students have to undergo prior to beginning their studies, the college environment and services provided to students, is underway.
The "O-Week" began on Monday and will finish today. Students will be able to participate in the orientation week by going to the campus or online.
The three-day orientation will give new faculty students the opportunity to obtain information regarding their lecturers, meet other students, campus facilities and various opportunities.
The main purpose of O-Week is to make students completely familiar with the campus environment and the facilities they will have access to before their first lecture.
The first session of the orientation week, "Unlocking Your Potential", was led by Vice Rector of Villa College and Associate Professor Dr. Ali Najeeb.
In the session that included student participation, he told students what it means to be a graduate who has fully prepared for the ever-changing employment arena. He also told students of the skills they can cultivate during the time spent at college, their experiences, connections they can build and the positive changes the students can bring to society.
During O-Week, students were shown the faculties they will be studying in and the sessions from the faculty teams, along with academic counseling sessions. In addition to sessions that taught techniques to find success in academics such as "As Your Academics" and "Study Smart, Work Better", "Stay Well, Stay Balanced" sessions that shows students how they can maintain their physical, mental and overall well-being, and how they can balance studying and their private life have also been planned.
In order to make students aware of the administrative and technical aspects students would need to complete before they officially start their education, "Get Digitally Ready" sessions will be held, where student's digital IDs will be activated, campus service access will be arranged and online learning platforms will be set up. A "VC Mystery" challenge will see students split up into teams and find and identify campus buildings, laboratories and other resources so that students will be well-versed regarding the layout of the campus from the first day they start their education.
An online edition and small games will be held for students who will be attending O-Week online, with entertainment activities such as live music and karaoke being included during orientation week so that students can bond with one another.
"Beyond the Classroom" sessions, where Villa College graduates will share their education and career experience as a way to prepare students for the working world after they graduate, and an "End Game" session, where employers from various industries will offer information about the type of skills they want in graduates will also be held.
Vice Rector of Villa College and Associate Professor Dr. Ali Najeeb said the higher education journey for students will begin in orientation week. The friendliness and connections formed within O-Week will serve as motivation to move forward when they are faced with tough days.
O-Week will conclude today at 10:00 pm.
