National airline Maldivian is preparing to resume scheduled flights between Male' and Dh. Kudahuvadhoo.

Parent company Island Aviation wrote in a statement that these flights are being reintroduced in order to expand their domestic air travel network, and will begin on Thursday.

The new route will see daily scheduled flights, with promotional prices starting at MVR 1,111.

Island Aviation stated that ticket sales are now open, with ticket booking available from Maldivian's official website and mobile application, the airline's ticketing offices and certified travel agents.

With these flights to Kudahuvadhoo, the number of domestic airport destinations for Maldivian will increase to 18.

The company said that in addition to further strengthening the airline's network, they described it as an important step in providing trustworthy aviation services to all of Maldives.

They also said this will expand the domestic air travel system, and is major progress for the government's efforts in facilitating easier flights to islands.

According to Island Aviation, this route will make it more convenient for people from Dhaalu Atoll in traveling to Male' for work, education, seeking health services and various business purposes.

Additionally, the company said tourists and passengers will have an easier time traveling to the region, and will further revive Dhaalu Atoll's tourism and economy.

Dhaalu Atoll has some of Maldives' most luxurious resorts such as Kandima Maldives, Niyama Private Island, St. Regin Maldives, Riu, Baglioni, Angsana Velavaru and Sun Siyam Iru Veli.

Kudahuvadhoo Airport was inaugurated in 2017, with scheduled flights to the airport from Maldivian operating until 2019.

However, Maldivian stopped their flights to Dhaalu Airport after Manta Air began their flights.
