Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) has marked its 15th anniversary by highlighting the expansion of its digital banking services and its focus on Islamic finance principles.

The bank, which began operations on the anniversary of the Maldives’ conversion to Islam, has introduced a range of digital services during its 15-year history, including online account opening and instant debit card issuance for individuals and businesses.

MIB said its core banking services, from opening accounts and applying for Ujaalaa financing to managing accounts, are now available through digital platforms.

According to figures released by the bank, internet and mobile banking logins increased from 3.76 million in the first quarter of 2026 to 4.19 million in the second quarter, an 11.4 percent increase.

Digital transactions rose from 25 million to 29.95 million over the same period, an increase of 19.7 per cent. The bank also recorded 3.72 million ATM, eCRM, point-of-sale and card transactions.

.

MIB attributed the growth to improvements to its FaisaNet, FaisaMobile X and ApplyNow Portal platforms, as well as the expansion of its POS services.

The bank said more than 90 per cent of its customers now access its services through mobile banking and other digital channels without visiting a branch.

Its UjaalaNow platform allows customers to manage Ujaalaa financing services online, while ATMs, eCRMs and payment gateways provide additional digital banking services.

MIB said it has also invested in digital infrastructure to strengthen security.
