MIFCO has raised the purchasing price of skipjack tuna to MVR 21 per kilo. 

MIFCO said that the change reflects the demand and supply in the market and is part of the government's efforts to strengthen sustainable fisheries and offer fair prices to fishermen. 

MIFCO said that skipjack tuna will be purchased at this price from the Felivaru harbour, Felivaru Fisheries Complex, Kooddoo Fisheries Complex, GDh. Thinadhoo harbour, L. Maamendhoo harbour, R. Maduvvari harbour and Male' harbour. 

MIFCO's prices last saw in change in June, when the rate was raised to MVR 20. 

Meanwhile, yellowfin tuna is now purchased at MVR 20 per kilo for 10 to 15kgs, and MVR 25 per kilo for 15kg and above.
