A large amount of personal information on the Male' Taxi Line (MTL) application has been leaked on social media.

According to the information spreading on social media, the names of the people who used the application to travel, the places they went to and the amount they paid have all been leaked. The email addresses, phone numbers and wallet information on the application has been leaked as well.

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) had to temporarily shut down the web application due to personal information being leaked when they initially launched the taxi service, with free rides being offered until the issue was resolved.

MTCC has not released any statements regarding the current leak. It is unsure as to whether the information has been leaked via the hacking of the application or the website.

The MTL service began on 2nd April. They initially offered the taxi booking service via a web application and phone calls for a while, with the mobile application being launched afterward. The application has not been in service for long.

MTCC has spent MVR 13 million on the MTL application and relevant services. The project was handed over to a company called Fixed Maldives.

The MTL service began with 150 cars. The Ministry of Economic Development, Transport and Trade has allocated pricing for Male', Hulhule' and Hulhumale', with the service being available for 24 hours.
