STELCO, in collaboration with the Maldives Polytechnic, initiated four Level 3 courses today aimed at training company employees.
The company stated that upon opening applications to achieve Level 3 Certification, a total of 76 employees applied across various departments and island powerhouse operations.
Speaking at the ceremony, STELCO Managing Director Dr. Ali Azwar stated that the company is not merely investing in a certificate, but rather spending on the employees' time and skills.
"The progress achieved through our employees is the progress achieved by the company. The progress achieved by the company is the progress achieved by the public utilizing the company's services. This progress is an advancement for the entire Maldives," Azwar said.
"Therefore, for the development of the entire Maldives, a portion of the investment made in our employees is going toward training employees today."
Maldives Polytechnic CEO Zooshan Kamaludeen stated that the gap between educational institutions and industries needs to be eliminated, adding that only then can the skilled personnel required by the nation be trained.
"As a technical center, we are providing training to the industry. We train according to the industry's needs. Otherwise, we would merely be a factory producing products. That would serve no purpose," Zooshan said.
She noted that the initiative taken by STELCO is a very positive step that deserves recognition.
The courses launched in this batch include Electrician Course, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Course, Welding and Material Fabrication Course, and Automotive Maintenance Course.
