Bank of Maldives (BML) has brought about changes to both their executive framework and their executive team members.
BML stated that the change is to make the bank more accountable and is aimed to easily offer services to customers at a faster pace. The bank also said it is an important step in basing the banks efforts on the long-term goals they have in increasing service quality, sustainable growth and fostering the relationship they have with their customers.
Regarding the changes to the management framework, four members from the senior management team have taken on additional responsibilities pertaining to their positions for the next six months. With that, Aishath Zamra Zahir has been changed to the position of Chief Commercial Officer. Previously, she was the Chief Marketing Officer.
Additionally, former Chief Business Officer Moosa Nimal has been made the Chief Marketing Officer. And the former Chief Credit Officer Rashfa Jaufar has been made the Chief Risk Officer, with the previous person in this position Gary Laughton being made the Chief Credit Officer.
BML CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef said these changes were made for the growth of the bank. He also said the bank is currently in a financially strong state, and the purpose is to make the services they offer their customers even more well-rounded and for quicker bank growth.
"This temporary change is an investment to strengthen leadership. Finding opportunities from other industries for experienced leaders related to their fields will increase their skill and will see institutional growth. This shows the importance the bank has toward developing trustworthy Maldivian professional leaders at every level," said the CEO and MD.
BML went on to say that the main purpose of the changes is to increase the quality of customer service. The bank also said that as these are internal changes, the bank's products, services or the ongoing discussion changes for their customers will not see any changes.
