Implementation of the rule stipulating that sea vessels can only dock at Velana Airport jetties after registering began today.
In a statement issued by the company, it was noted that starting today, vessels can only be docked at the airport and kept inside the lagoon area after obtaining permission. Furthermore, a dedicated portal has been created to facilitate this.
MACL stated that the decision to register vessels using the harbor in the "Harbor Portal" was made to improve service quality. The company added that another objective is to maintain records of vessels using the lagoon area through the portal and to provide ease in monitoring operational matters.
The statement noted that the implementation of this portal is being carried out in phases.
The company stated that the first phase prioritizes registering vessels and raising awareness among vessel owners on how to use the portal. It also mentioned that direct interactions with crew members will be conducted to provide assistance during the registration process.
The company further stated that after giving vessel owners and operators a period of one month to register in the Harbor Portal, once the portal becomes operational, permission to use the lagoon area must be requested prior to seeking services in the harbor.
