As of now, Maldives has welcomed over 200,000 tourists from China this year. 

According to statistics shared by the Tourism Ministry, China is the first country from which 200,000 tourists have arrived this year. Second on the list is Russia, with 170,000 tourist arrivals, followed by the UK with 94,000 tourists. 

Last year, too, China was the strongest source market for tourist arrivals to Maldives. 

Of tourists visiting Maldives, 73 percent stay in resorts. As of now this year, 823,000 tourists have stayed in resorts. 

Tourist arrival numbers have seen a decline since March due to the war in the Middle East. So far this year, a total of 1.1 million tourists have visited the Maldives, which is a five percent decreased compared to last year.
