Maldives Bureau of Statistics has launched the "Interactive Data Explorer Portal" through which users can see statistics relating to the economy and the population. 

The Ministry of Finance and Public Enterprises said that the portal will conveniently provide the latest official data on inflation, economy and the population. 

The portal will also offer information regarding Consumer Price Index (CPI) and GDP.

The portal will serve to enhance public awareness on changing population trends and changes to the economy, the ministry said, as well as offering convenience to those seeking easy access to official data. 

The Finance Ministry further noted that the Maldives Statistics Act has served to further strengthen the organizational and legal structure on collecting, maintaining and controlling official statistics and raising public awareness on the same. 

Under the Act, the President has appointed a Chief Statistician to lead the National Statistics Bureau, which is under the oversight of the Finance Ministry.
