Transport inflation has gone up to 9.3 percent in May due to transportation prices going up.

According to statistics from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), this is a 1.1 percent increase from April, which was at 8.2 percent. The inflation in March was at 6 percent.

Transportation prices have gone up due to the increase in fuel prices caused by the war in the Middle East and the price of flight tickets having gone up significantly.

The NBS stated the price of tickets has gone up to 5.6 percent at this time.

Transport inflation was at 0.6 percent in May 2025, with this being a 1,500 percent increase. Transportation prices were falling from September 2025 to February 2026.

The negative effects of the war in the Middle East spread across the world, with the increase in aviation prices being the highest it has been in the last five years.

Transportation prices had fallen by 0.7 percent by the end of 2025. The prices in January 2026 and February 2026 had fallen by 1.3 percent.

2022 saw the largest spike in transportation prices aside from this year. Prices had gone up by 6 percent that year.
