Statistics have shown that the number of tourists that have come to Maldives in July as of yet is still low by 3.5 percent.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Maldives has seen 79,000 tourists in July as of yet. At the same time last year, 82,000 tourists came to Maldives.
The number of tourists that come to Maldives have fallen significantly since March 2026 due to the war in the Middle East.
1.1 million tourists have come to Maldives as of now, which is a 5 percent drop compared to last year. The lowest drop was seen in April, with a 24 percent drop compared to April 2025. The number of tourists that came to Maldives in March dropped by 19 percent. However, March sees the highest number of tourists from European destinations.
Even though the number of tourists have reduced, those in the industry have highlighted an increase in the number of tourists coming to Maldives. However, some tourist resorts have said this change will only be visible from August onward.
China has the highest number of tourists that have traveled to Maldives in 2026. Russia is in second and the United Kingdom is in third. The highest number of tourists coming to Maldives are from European countries. This includes Italy, Germany, France and Switzerland.
73 percent of tourists who come to Maldives spend their time at resorts. More than 800,000 tourists spent their vacation at resorts as of yet this year. 250,000 tourists spent their vacation at guest houses, which is around 23 percent of the tourists coming to Maldives.
